11:00 AM, Friday, August 1, 2008. I’m sitting in the pew at my parish church, St. Andrew Catholic Church. It’s a funeral Mass for one of our parishioners. She is a beautiful woman who has recently died after suffering seven months of ovarian cancer. I don’t mean beautiful in a physical way, although she was, but in a deeper, more spiritual way. She really lived out the Gospel. I really didn’t know her, but based on the testimonies of friends and family, she was a worker for God. She touched the lives of so many.
Times like this make me retreat and think about what life on Earth is about. And it always helps me reflect upon the people I love and the people who love me. I have resolved to try to keep some sort of journal, so that the people around me might someday understand how much I love them, and how much I appreciate everything they’ve done for me.
Will my postings always be deep and meaningful? No, I doubt it. I’m not a complex man. I’m pretty simple, actually, and I enjoy the simple things in life. I’d expect to find here a collection of musings about the world we live in, some “travelogue” entries (I am an airline pilot, after all!), pictures from my life, etc.
For all I know, nobody will ever read this, and I’m okay with that.
my her soul rest in perfect peace,i like your posting, its meaningful.God bless you too.one day i will be trained as a pilot too by Gods grace.
